A Simple Way to Be More Grateful and Happy with Your Body

With all the ‘perfect’ body images we see in magazines, newspapers and online, it’s easy to get a negative body image of ourselves.

As you probably know, most of the photos we see have been edited in ways to create the so-called ideal look.

With our judgmental minds, we turn on ourselves and end up criticising our seemingly less than perfect bodies.

And supermodels have it worst, believe it or not. I read yesterday that the group of people that are most judgmental and critical of their own bodies are supermodels. The tiniest imperfection becomes a torture for them.

So we need an antidote.

A way to love ourselves and our bodies as they are. Not as they should be.

One antidote is to reflect on just how much your body is doing for you every second to keep you alive and well. It’s incredible.

Every organ from your heart, lungs, liver, kidney, stomach to your brain are working so hard for your wellbeing, day and night.

Forget what you look like on the outside for a minute - and reflect on just how amazing your body is to keep you alive on the inside!

Doing this for a few minutes each day can help you to appreciate just how amazingly beautiful you are. And once you start doing that, your whole body image can begin to shift into a positive direction.

If you want to take this further, try listening to this recording of a guided gratitude body scan which I guided live in our club recently. A great gift of self-care to yourself.

Did you enjoy the meditation? I hope so. :)
