Mindful Origami

Some people cannot sit still with their eyes closed, and telling them to try harder doesn't help. Give them a square of paper instead. Mindful origami puts attention in the hands — and the mind tends to follow.

Taught by Samuel Tsang, author of The Book of Mindful Origami.

Samuel Tsang

Sam is a London-based origami teacher who has been teaching professionally since 2003, and the author of The Book of Mindful Origami and The Magic of Mindful Origami. He has introduced origami to thousands of people through public and corporate workshops, working with over a hundred companies.

He was also the main organiser of the Guinness World Record for the largest display of origami elephants — now permanently on show at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo.

What makes this different

Filmed with a real group, questions and all

These sessions were recorded live with Sam teaching people to lead this themselves — not scripted to camera. Their questions are left in.

So you're a fly on the wall while someone asks what to do when a person in the group gets frustrated and screws up their paper, or how to run this with children without it descending into chaos. You hear the question asked, and answered, in the room.

It makes for far better learning than a demonstration video, because the difficulties come up naturally instead of being tidied away.

Questions

Before you join

Who teaches this course?

Samuel Tsang — a London-based origami teacher of more than twenty years and the author of The Book of Mindful Origami. It is his course; it sits alongside Shamash’s other trainings here and runs in the same app.

Do I need to be good at origami?

No. The folding is deliberately simple — it is a vehicle for attention, not a craft challenge. The bonus session starts from the very beginning if you have never folded anything.

Who is this for?

People who already run groups — teachers, therapists, facilitators, carers — and want a way in for people who find sitting still with their eyes closed difficult. It works especially well with children and with anyone who fidgets.

How long will it take?

Five recorded sessions, worked through at your own pace. Lifetime access, so you can come back to it whenever you next need it.

Is there a one-to-one call with this one?

No — this is the one course in the range without a call included. If you would like to talk something through with Shamash, you are welcome to book a short call separately.

Still unsure? Book a short call and ask me directly.
